MLD targets specifically the lymphatic system. Lymph flows throughout the body and gets filtrated in lymph nodes.The lymph can accumulate in a part of the body if its flow is blocked, and that part becomes swollen and painful. In simple words, MLD speeds up the flow and filtration process, and thus decreases the swelling and pain.

The client wears ideally a tank top and leggings or shorts and is positioned comfortably under a cover. The therapist provides a light massage over lymph node clusters and lymphatic ducts on front and on back, and on extremities. A specific technique is used to massage face and head to speed up the lymph flow for cosmetic reasons.

Pregnant clients welcomed to significantly decrease a discomfort caused by fluid retention.
